The new Ms. Samoa, New Zealand is Naomi Fruean

The new Ms Samoa New Zealand for the year 2016-2017 has been crowned and she is Naomi Fruean. She replaces the lovely Latafale Auvaa who held the title 2015-2016 and represented Samoa.
Naomi's parents are Isaac Esau Fruean and Siva Neria. Naomi herself is a very talented musician who is a full time University student in Auckland according to her proud Uncle, Tui Moses Fruean. Her family members include the prolific Samoan heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker, who is her first cousin.
With 25 years under its belt the Ms Samoa New Zealand Pageant is the longest-standing Pacific beauty competition in NZ, an accomplishment that Miss Samoa NZ Director, Ulalemamae Te’eva Matafai, a former contestant who has volunteered 21 years of her life to the event, is proud.
The top 6, from 16 contestants were chosen via an online vote, with the finalists competing on the night to be crowned Miss Samoa NZ. Here are the finalists: Finalist 1 Rebecca Nielsen, Finalist 2 Angelia Brown, Finalist 3 Naomi Fruean, Finalist 4 Mariana Tanuvasa, Finalist 5 Julia Lui, and Finalist 6 was Malaea Evile
Judged by a panel of five judges, Tu’u’u Apulu Kalala Mary Tanuvasa Autagavaia, Sherry Lunjevich (nee Elekana), Louis Thomsen, Charlene Tedrow, Latafale Auva’a (Miss World Samoa), the girls were judged on an interview in Samoan, and on their Siva Samoa (traditional Samoan dance) ability and grace.
